Our History
Homer L. Burt of Londonderry, Ohio, founded this agency in 1942. He served as an agent with Buckeye State Mutual for 21 years prior to selling the business to Heber Stevens. Homer was a schoolteacher, farmer, and Justice of the Peace in addition to selling insurance. He was a member of the Buckeye 52 Club and served as general chairman for the company's 75th anniversary celebration.

Heber Stevens, Homer's brother-in-law, purchased the agency on May 1, 1963. Heber, also of Londonderry, served as an agent of Buckeye State Mutual for 23 years before selling our agency to Ruth E. Bledsoe. Some of Heber's policies remain with Buckeye State Mutual today. Heber also worked for the Mead Corporation until he retired in 1970. Many folks can recall how he would travel in his Volkswagen^® Bug while on insurance sales drives; the kids can tell you where the M&M's^® were in his car. Heber was a great man, and is greatly missed by all who knew him.

On November 1, 1986, the agency was sold to Ruth Bledsoe, Heber's daughter, and was named Bledsoe's Insurance Agency. She diligently worked as an agent until she semi-retired on December 31, 2007. She greatly misses the people, and would love the chance to chat with you. Please do not hesitate to ask for her when you call the office.

Ruth, in addition to being an agent, worked as a real estate agent and was a volunteer EMT. She has also sold Avon^® products for more than 20 years. On January 1, 2008, the agency transferred to Christina K. Bledsoe, Ruth's daughter, and moved to the new location.
